Caxton Gibbet
Summary
- Caxton Gibbet is a small knoll on the Great North Road from London to Huntingdon, near its crossing with the road from Oxford to Cambridge. It was the site of a gibbet, which is reputed to be a gruesome example of the cage variation, as used in Cambridgeshire, into which live victims were placed until they died from starvation, dehydration or exposure.
