Powiat
Summary
- A powiat (pronounced povyat) is a second-level unit of the administrative division and local government in Poland, roughly equivalent to counties, districts or prefectures (NUTS-3) in other countries. The powiat is a part of a larger entity called voivodship (województwo) and usually consists of several communes called gmina.
