Summary
- In NSA terminology, a Type 3 algorithm is an encryption algorithm that has been adopted as a Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) for use with sensitive, but unclassified (SBU) information. Examples include DES, Triple DES and AES (although AES might also be usable in NSA-certified Type 1 products).
